How the Rotary Club of Lexington Park Uses It’s Share of the Oyster Festival Proceeds

Rotary International is renowned for both its global reach and direct service to local communities. The Rotary Club of Lexington Park honors that tradition. Annually the Club distributes dictionaries to 3rd grade elementary school students throughout St. Mary’s County; gives up to $30,000 in academic scholarships to college-bound high school seniors; provides over $20,000 in direct support to area non-profits for programs such as the local food pantries; and sponsors of a house for the annual Christmas in April project. The Club also periodically participates in a Rotary International relief effort to support communities in developing countries. The U. S. Oyster Festival in St. Mary’s County, MD is the Club’s primary means to raise funds for all of these charitable causes, most of which are clearly centered on St. Mary’s County. The Club partners with numerous other local non-profits to sell food at the event making the Oyster Festival the largest venue for annual charitable fund raising in St. Mary’s County.  Support from Oyster Festival Sponsors allows the Rotary Club of Lexington Park to give back to our community in countless ways.
